MASHANTUCKET, CT – Foxwoods® Resort Casino has reported slot revenue of $33.6 million for the month of June 2020. This figure is down 4.9 percent compared to $35.3 million in June of 2019. Slot handle for the month was $377.1 million, down 13.5 percent from the $436.1 million wagered in the same month in 2019.

Butler said Foxwoods remains committed to ensuring that the resort is operating safely for both visitors and staff and will continue to work with medical experts to evaluate and update as needed. To date, visitors have been more than willing to have their temperature checked at the door, wear masks, practice social distancing and liberally use hand sanitizer readily available throughout the property.

MASHANTUCKET, CT – The deep effect that COVID-19 has had on Foxwoods Resort Casino, the nation and the world has been unimaginable. Although we took the immediate steps needed to preserve jobs and effectively position us for the future, ultimately, this pandemic has been cruel in many ways and we need to adapt and evolve based on the current environment.
As we plan for a phased, incremental reopening of Foxwoods based on business levels, we have made the very difficult and painful decision to temporarily layoff a majority of our workforce without benefits beginning May 31st. Since our closure, the Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise has maintained health benefits in place for all employees. Although there is currently no confirmed reopening date, as the property prepares for the first phase, some team members will return based on which parts of the property we reopen.
We moved swiftly to apply for financial aid to help with recovery and business efforts; however, received very limited financial support under the CARES Act. For affected team members, Foxwoods is forgiving all outstanding healthcare premiums and offering resources and guidance on securing new coverage.
Since the beginning of the closure, our goal remains clear: to bring team members back as soon we can – safely, and as business volumes dictate. In phase I of the reopening, which does not have a timeline yet, we anticipate opening:
- The Grand Pequot and Great Cedar casino floors
- The Grand Pequot Hotel
- Limited food and beverage outlets
In partnership with health, medical experts and local officials, we’ve been working diligently to implement new safety and health protocols across the resort to ensure we mitigate any health risks to our team members and guests.
We remain committed to finding ways to best reach the other side of this pandemic for Foxwoods, our team members and guests. This is a heartbreaking decision but feel it is the best path to preserving jobs for the future. We appreciate all our team members have done in playing such a critical part in making Foxwoods an amazing place to work.
